Start to finish....just some fun pics from our journey. I could spend a year telling you all how I did everything, but I won't! If you have questions about a certain task just ask! I will be happy to let you know how we did what!!
The 80's ugliness....say bye, bye!
My honey, hard at work...cutting out the bead board.
Oh, what a dusty mess! Sanding down all the cupboards and cleaning them all out!
I really did help in this process!
Painting the inside of these things SUCK!
Thank goodness for paint guns! We masked off the kitchen and Mike went to town.
Two coats of primer and two coats of antique white paint!
Oh So Pretty!
The tile! This job was MASSIVE! We didn't just do the kitchen, but down the hallway and the entry way too. I think at this point, Mike wanted to quit and go back to Iraq. Tiling is hard work and THANKS to Mike C and Judd who came and helped. We couldn't have done it without you both!
Now, after this tiling job I PROMISE I helped Mike GROUT. IT. ALL.
Glazing! Who ever knew you had to make something so UGLY to make it look so PRETTY? I felt like I was destroying all the hard work when I was putting this glaze on top of the pretty white cabinets.
But, it was all worth it because this is what I have now!!!
Isn't it BEAUTIFUL? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new kitchen. I am so proud that Mike and I did it all! We worked so hard and learned so much with this project. The biggest lesson learned?
NEVER DO IT AGAIN! Just kiddin! I would definately do this again if it meant I got to stare at this beautiful kitchen instead of that ugly ol' thing before! Now, all I need it a new stove, microwave and dishwasher. Anyone want to take care of that for me?

So beautiful - what a difference. Does he hire out? ;)
Great job! I love your new kitchen it is gorgeous!
Your kitchen looks beautiful! I can only imagine the hours it took to paint all the cabinets. I did a small cabinet recently and it took a lot of time. Congrats on a job well done!
Wow - looks amazing!! Love that tile floor too and that goose neck faucet. I'm in dyer need of a new faucet. What a great project that you can enjoy for years down the road.
I absolutely love your glaze that you did on your cabinets. I recently glazed my bathroom caninets and it turned out to brown for me. I want to do my kitchen...and want it to look just like yours ....what color and brand of glaze did you use....will you please email me

This is an absolutely beautiful before and after. We feature great projects, if you are interested let me know. You should be able to just respond to my comment. You usually get a bunch of new traffic. Check out my site if you get the chance www.remodelaholic.com
I am just dropping by from the link party and I just had to tell you how amazing your kitchen turned out! I am also planning to paint my cabinets white but I was worried how it would look with all my white appliances. I'm not worried anymore, your whole kitchen looks so good! Thanks for sharing!
I found your blog through Remodelholic. Your kitchen looks fantastic! Great job!
It turned out so beautiful! Before we moved in, our kitchen was repainted white, but the inside of the cabinets still look . . . well, kinda butt ugly. It's hard to put that high on the priority list though when the outside looks good already. LOL.
Love your kitchen re-do. Did you get new countertops or paint the ones you have. I need to update mine but it scares me. I found you thru remodelolic also! Nice job!
What kind of spray gun did you use for this project? We are considering something similar and I am trying to figure out how industrial you need to go.
Thanks
Linda, We got new countertops. They are the "HD Granite Laminate" I like to call them faux granite! They are beautiful, no one knows until we tell them it's laminate and they were so much cheaper. It was less than $1500 for all my counter space and I have a lot of it.
Heidi, We bought a spray gun at Lowe's. It's a Kobalt. I want to say it was less than $100.00 but well worth the money. We have used it for many other projects since.
I am SO GLAD I came across your blog via Remodelaholic. We have those same EXACT cabinets. The previous owners did a over a $10,000 renovation. The tile & cabinets look good, but it's not us. Hubs doesn't want to have to re-do everything. THIS gives me hope & helps my cause. ;o) Great job to you & your hubs!
Wow! My cabinets are similar, already painted white, with a few scratches:( I'm thinking of glazing over top of them. What kind and color glaze did you use?
Janet, I bought the Ralph Lauren glaze from Home Depot and had them tint it a dark brown. I don't recall the exact color thought. It looked like melted chocolate... just go with a brown you like and it will turn out beautiful!
Your kitchen is just gorgeous!! I just did mine on my own and I know how you are feeling!! The family catches me standing there just staring at it! Do you also do that???
I hired my sister and her boyfriend to do out kitchen. I'm really impressed with the work you and your husband did. It's amazing what paint and beadwork will do. I hope that he didn't have to go back to Iraq and works local instead.
Thanks for sharing, Katharine
Hi, Julie!! I definitely prefer the "After" shots. ;) You guys did a great job--your cabinets are fabulous!!! Visiting from Weekend Wrap-Up! :)
Hi Julie! I absolutely LOVE your kitchen re-do! I love white cabinets, and yours turned our beautifully! I also love your countertops! I was hoping to read that you painted them, but I saw that you purchased them. I'm trying to convince my husband to order the Giani Granite kit to do all ours, but he's not quite there yet.
Anyways, great transformation! It looks fabulous! Happy New YEar!
Great job you guys, it is beautiful! Have a great 2011. Visiting from Weekend Wrap Up PArty
Saw this on Tatertos & Jell-o and rushed over. This looks beautiful!! You did such an amazing job!
And...I have almost this exact same kitchen (before version unfortunately!) and lots of questions for you as I am ready to tackle mine this spring. Would you mind emailing me at shewearsflowers@gmail.com?
love the before and after! stainless steel appliances are overrated, the white fits in perfectly :)
I've been wondering how my white appliances would look next to glazed/painted cabinets, and I'm so happy to see that yours looks beautiful! I actually have some questions for you about the actual painting process...could you email me tam.miller@gmail(dot)com? Thanks!
I also have white appliances that my husband will not replace since there isn't anything wrong with them! I think yours look really nice. Is it white or an ivory color?
