Goodbye School ... Hello Summer!

Hooray!  I am so excited the kids are FINALLY out for Summer Break!

I love living in Southern Utah, the kids are out of school before Memorial Day, the weather is fabulous and screams "HELLO SUMMER!  COME AND PLAY!"

This year my Little's (they really aren't little anymore - soon to be 4th and 2nd graders) wanted to take a little treat to their classmates.  A treat that said something like

GOODBYE SCHOOL
HELLO SUMMER!

I remembered I had about 50 baby food jars!  Perfect for storing little treats.

Want to make some for your Little's?

Here is what you will need:

Recycled baby food jars
Ribbon and twine
Printable Labels - You can use mine if you want too!
Spray Paint
Mod Podge
M&M's or Skittles

Print labels and Mod Podge labels to clean jars.  Spray paint lids black.  Fill with M&M's or Skittles and tie with ribbon and twine!

HAPPY SUMMER!!!

Back To School

I cannot believe my kids go back to school TOMORROW!  I am so excited yet slightly sad all at the same time.  We've had so much fun this summer - swimming, lagoon, parks, water slides in the backyard, movie days, baking cookies and cupcakes...my list can go on and on!  But, I am happy because now I can have time to get my house back in order and really clean!

I saw this oh so very cute idea over at How Does She (guest post from Eighteen25) and decided it was so cute my kids needed to give one to their teachers on the first day of school!

How cute will they be? Giving this to their teacher tomorrow...I can see it now!

This project was very inexpensive and very quick to complete!

I bought some fortune cookies from Walmart (in the Asian food section) for $1.48 a box.  I headed over to the party section where I found two different types of "Chinese food boxes" aka party favor boxes!  The plastic ones are $1.50 a piece, but the colorful paper ones are 4 for $1.50.  I went for the more bang for your buck...you know me, I'm kinda frugal!  I also grabbed a bag of melting chocolates and headed home.

I pulled out my Cricut and cut out four scalloped circles. 2- 3" circles and 2- 3.5" circles.  I printed off the words "I'm So Fortunate To Have You As My Teacher" and cut it into a circle.  Glue them all together and adhere to the box.  Oh so simple, yet oh so cute!

Next unload your fortune cookies and melt your chocolate in a microwave safe bowl.  Follow the directions on the package on melting.  Once melted, dip one end of the fortune cookie into the chocolate and set on wax paper to dry. (I didn't have any wax paper so I used tin foil and it worked just fine!)  Now, here comes the fun part!  If you want to add some flare to your cookies, after dipping in the chocolate, roll the chocolate side in some sprinkles then set aside.  Or... melt white chocolate and put in a piping bag and drizzle over cookie, set aside.

I actually let Charlee help with the process and she did fairly well.  I was a little nervous at first, but she figured it out quick!  So, not only will the kids have something cute to give to their teacher, they helped make it too!

Now mama's, have a fabulous day sending those kiddos out the door to school, kick up your feet and RELAX for the day!  You deserve it, you had them ALL summer long!

BoArD, bOaRd, BoArD!!!

When I saw this idea over at Craftomaniac I knew I had to have one! Only because Charlee is constantly telling me she is BORED! This project couldn't have been more fun because I got to think of fun things that I am okay with the kids doing when they are bored!! The other thing I loved about it, I had a PERFECT place to hang it once it was completed!

Or maybe with school starting, having a display board of your cute kiddos art work is what you need? This idea is brilliant! Clears up the clutter off the fridge and puts it in a designated place, making life just a little easier! And, acknowledges your sweeties talents and gives them a boost of self esteem! Every parent knows it breaks your little ones heart if you don't display something they are so proud of! Besides, kids art work is the BEST!

Now this, I LOVE! I am not sure where we found this idea (my apologies to the creator) but it is perfect for busy families and is actually cute home decor. Using a frame, burlap, glass, paper and a white board marker, you have everything you will need to plan your weekly menu and get yourself a little more organized....especially with back to school right around the corner!

Now, originally we would have a short tutorial on how to put these crafties together, BUT we are going to have a special CRAFT NIGHT!!! Crae's Creations & Co. will provide all the supplies, fun, music, laughter, visiting and get to know yous on August 4th at 6:00 p.m. All you need to do is show up and put it together, and have lots of fun! (Location of this super awesome fun craft night? Probably at Julie or Tara's house...details to come.)

Remember, Christmas will be here before you know it. Each one of these craft projects would make a GREAT Christmas gift and fairly inexpensive too!

If you are interested in making any one of these (or ALL) the cost will be only $10.00 for each project. If you live in the St. George area, come have a super fun GIRLS CRAFT NIGHT! Now, if you don't live in the St. George area and still want one???? contact me, I am sure we can work something out. (Like: get you the supplies and mail them, or send you a completed project???)

Want in on the action? email me at craescreations(at)hotmail(dot)com

Let us know what project(s) you want to do and if you want black or white paint. If you choose black paint, your font color will be tan. If you choose white paint, your font color will be black. On the menu board, the font will be black and you have a paint color choice of black or white. The deadline to join the craft night is July 30th. We need to have a count of how many and what projects you want to do so we have a few days to get all the wood cut out, sanded, and gather the supplies needed. Come join the FUN!
